The ever-changing area around Tokyo Station. Rehabilitation of buildings has progressed, such as with the Shin Marunochi Building at the Marunochi Exit, and Grand Tokyo at the Yaesu Exit. The red-brick station building at the Marunochi Exit is currently undergoing reconstruction.

Tsukudajima (Chuo-ku)

Lined with skyscrapers, Tsukudajima now resembles the island of Manhattan. In 1989, there was only one skyscraper. Afterwards, with the completion of the Chuo-Ohashi Bridge, Tsuda and Arakawa became connected.

In 1993, the 798m Rainbow Bridge linking the center of town with the new Tokyo waterfront subcenter was opened. In the background, the Tokyo Sky Tree, which boasts a height of 634m, can be seen.

The Daiba district in 1992, when there was nothing. Afterwards, hotels, television stations, and amusement facilities were constructed, changing the scenery drastically.

After completion of urban redevelopment projects, the Shirahige-nishi district was reborn into a new town. This area, which is surrounded by the S-shaped Sumida River, used to consist of a dense concentration of wooden structures.
